This is our longest established division. We have been in the narrowboat business since 1953, first as repairers of canal equipment and then, in 1969, of building welded all steel narrowboats for recreational and commercial use.

We fabricate our own hulls from the best available steel and sell our products to any stage of completion required by the customer. We supply shells, shells plus installed diesel engines, through to fully completed boats finished by our skilled engineers and cabinet fitters.

Our success in the narrowboat business is due in no small part to ensuring that our clients get exactly the layout of craft that they want.

We operate two dry docks, one at Worcester in Diglis Basin and the other at Tardebigge, near Bromsgrove.

These facilities may be rented by boat owners wishing to do their own hull repairs and bottom blacking.

The Diglis Basin Dry Dock can handle vessels up to 80 feet long, up to 16 feet in beam and drawing up to 4.5 feet of draft. This dock is accessible from the River Severn and from the Worcester and Birmingham Canal.

The Tardebigge Dry Dock is at the top of the Tardebigge Lock flight and will handle narrowboats to 70 feet in length drawing up to 4 feet and to 7 feet in beam.

In a perfect world we would experience trouble free cruising for ever, but you know, and we know, that life is not so kind. When problems do arise, however, a call to J L Pinder and Sons has, in the past, resulted in a service technician being despatched as soon as required or feasible.

Our service covers an 60 mile radius from our Stoke Prior base, repairs covered from Engines, Gearbox's, Stern gear and propollors, waterpumps and a multitude of other items which can go wrong at any time.

With shorter distances to travel to reach the vessel in need of help, you should be safely on your way in less time than in the past and at lower cost to you.

With over 40 years experience we are fully equipped, and on 24 hr. standby, for any emergency lock repair or maintenance. Centrally located at the heart of both the Motorway and canal network we can respond with speed and efficiency.

Our expertise in repair and maintenance of bridges and swing bridges is coupled to a vast pool of experience in the preparation and construction of purpose built craft such as British Waterways dredgers and other specialised vessels.
